Collections
The Kittitas County Historical Museum houses a variety of collections
pertaining to Kittitas County and its people.
There are approximately 9,000 objects in the KCHM collections. The collections contain many different objects, such as tools, clothing, furniture, artwork, toys, household items, and Native American baskets, bags, and stone tools. Additionally, collection strengths include historic photographs, antique cars, objects relating to World War II, and much more.
The collections cover a wide time frame, from dinosaur bones and geological specimens dating back millions of years to modern day tools and equipment. The objects in the KCHM collections come from all corners of Kittitas County, and sometimes from around the globe.
Donating an Object
The Kittitas County Historical Museum seeks to uphold its Mission by collecting and preserving materials, which may help establish, illustrate, and educate about the history of Kittitas County.

Information Requests
If you are interested in learning more about a specific topic relating to Kittitas County history, you are welcome to submit an information request to KCHM.
We require the following information to be included in your request:
- Name
- Address
- Daytime or Message Phone Number
- Email Address
- Purpose for the Request
- Detailed Description of Information Sought
Our AVERAGE staff research response time for most inquiries is 5-7 working days. You will be notified via your preferred contact method when your request has been processed.
If we are unable to answer your request, KCHM staff may refer you to other institutions or organizations.
We also offer on-site research requests by appointment only. Please note staff will retrieve the requested materials or objects and set up a research station. The KCHM Archives and Collections Storage areas are closed to the public.
